Thousand Oaks was also home to several underground radio stations in the late 70's & 80's. KDNF was on 840AM with 20 watts, and then moved up the dial to 1210 AM on weekends with 40 watts after KGOE, went 24 hours, In April of 1983, KKTO 1200 AM signed on the air weekdays and weekends when KDNF, was off, KKTO FM came on a year later, and operated 24/7 on 99.3 FM, until the move up to 102.3 in 1986.
Note: KGOE, Thousand Oaks was originally issued the call letters KKTO, but changed them to KGOE, prior to sign on in September of 1972.
